Working While Black - Episode 7

For about two hours, there was an outstanding episode here that provided some much needed insights that we can use to move our country forward.

But even in the weeks immediately following George Floyd’s murder, there are people in positions of authority who are not interested in the candid, honest dialogue on what it’s like to be a Black professional in America.

Apparently, the truth hurt someone’s fragile feelings.

It is not our objective with this series to compromise anyone’s livelihood, so we removed the interview at the request of the guest.

This lost episode is a clear example of how far we have to go and why this project is necessary.

Even after watching a Black man executed over an agonizing 8 minutes and 46 seconds, there are still people who have a problem with Black people sharing the truth of their lived experiences in America.

Don’t believe the hype when you see these public statements on the importance of diversity. Any organization that objects to even hearing the experiences of its Black employees is certainly not going to actually do anything meaningful to move this country forward when it comes to social equity.

You can’t tell Black people to protest in a way that doesn’t bother you or that we should be patient.

400 years of exactly the same thing is long enough. We are out of patience.

Working While Black is an interview series designed to advance the dialogue on diversity, equity, and inclusion in corporate America.

Through Working While Black, Black executives have an opportunity to share their experiences in the workplace and use them as a teaching tool for companies that truly want to create environments where everyone has an equal opportunity to advance to the highest levels of the company.
